In planning for handling and addressing spread of the Coronavirus, TAAPS recommends the following:
1. Don’t panic. It’s so hard to think rationally when our “fight or flight” instincts take over, so let’s stay calm. And in doing so, model calmness for our children.
2. Fight the flu. Of all the viruses in the world, one of the deadliest is already here. At home and at school, let’s step up our emphasis on the techniques that will slow the spread of the flu. Please note that these same techniques would also slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Washing one’s hands often and correctly. Practicing good hygiene etiquette when coughing and sneezing. Cleaning surfaces and objects that are touched frequently. Staying home when we are sick.
3. Have an emergency communication system in place to quickly communicate information with staff, parents, and students during a pandemic.
